Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to your questions about navigation, contributions, and our open knowledge mission.

1. General Questions

How do I search for documents?

Use the search bar at the top of any page to enter keywords, authors, titles, or ISBNs. Advanced filters let you narrow your search by language, subject, or publication year.

How are resources categorized?

All items are tagged with metadata including subjects, language, format (text, PDF, EPUB), and historical significance. You can filter by category or browse curated collections in our "Explore" section.

2. Contributing to eBib

What file types are accepted?

We accept EPUB, PDF, and plain text files with proper metadata. Historical documents require high-resolution scans in PDF format with accessible OCR layers.

How is licensing handled?

All contributions must include valid open licenses (CC-BY or equivalent). We verify compliance using automated tools, and contributors must sign licensing agreements before submission.

3. Access & Privacy

Is anonymous browsing allowed?

Yes. All users can search and view public documents without creating an account. Downloading restricted files requires verified access.

How is my data protected?

We use HTTPS encryption, biometric authentication for sensitive actions, and GDPR-compliant storage systems. Your IP address is retained only for security purposes (see Privacy Policy).

4. Technical Issues

Why can't I download some files?

Digital rights management (DRM) restrictions exist on certain modern publications. We maintain an up-to-date notice system that explains access limitations for each file.

How do I report broken links?

Use the "Broken Link" button at the top of any resource page. We validate reports within 48 hours via our automated archival system to verify issues before repairing links.
