Policy Overview
about.edu respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects all users to do the same. We respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).
How to Report Infringement
If you believe that your work has been infringed, please provide the following information to our copyright agent:
- Your contact information, including name, address, and email address
- A description of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed
- A description of where the infringing material is located
- Your electronic or physical signature
- A statement under penalty of perjury that the information you have provided is accurate
Notice Processing
Upon receiving a valid DMCA complaint with all required information, we will:
- Remove or disable access to the infringing content.
- Notify the user who posted the content of the infringement.
- Investigate repeat infringers and take disciplinary measures if violations continue.
Responding to a DMCA Notice
If you believe your content was removed by mistake, you may file a counter-notice and provide sufficient evidence that:
- This use is permitted under fair use, or
- You have legal rights to use the content.
