The original Neuralee platform had an interface that was complex and unintuitive for researchers needing to interact with large datasets. While powerful, the interface often created barriers for new users in research labs.
We designed a new interface based on principles from information visualization and accessible design. The key innovations included:
We conducted 47 in-depth interviews with researchers across 5 countries, analyzing how they interact with their data and where they commonly face issues. This research formed the foundation for our design decisions.
We built 120 high-fidelity prototypes to explore various UI patterns and test our ideas under real research scenarios. This phase refined our understanding of what's possible.
After 362 user testing sessions, we released the new interface. This included 187 visual updates, 93 usability improvements, and 15 accessibility enhancements.

Designing for accessibility made the product better for everyone while expanding our user base.
Working closely with the development team ensured that what we designed could be built and scaled efficiently.
This redesign not only solved the initial problems but also positioned Neuralee as an industry leader in AI collaboration tools. The new design improved accessibility, reduced the learning curve for new users, and introduced features that are now standard in the category.
One of the most valuable lessons was how deeply empathy drives great design. By truly putting ourselves in the users' shoes, we discovered opportunities to significantly improve the experience in ways we hadn't predicted.
